Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing Launches Accelerated Direct Entry MSN Program

Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing has announced the launch of its new Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing (DE-MSN) program, an accelerated pathway for individuals who hold a non-nursing bachelor’s degree and seek to transition into a career as a registered nurse. The two-year program allows students to fast-track their education, combining foundational nursing instruction with advanced graduate-level coursework designed to prepare the next generation of master’s-level prepared nurses.

Created for recent college graduates and career changers seeking a meaningful role in health care, the program equips students with the clinical, leadership and professional competencies needed to thrive in today’s complex care environments. Coursework includes advanced lifespan assessment, adult and family nursing science, behavioral health, population and global health, leadership development and clinical immersion experiences. Students complete 69 credit hours across didactic, lab and practicum learning.

“As the demand for highly skilled nurses continues to rise, this program offers an accessible and efficient route for academically prepared individuals to enter the profession,” Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Chris-Tenna Perkins, RN, said. “Our graduates will be ready to provide excellent, compassionate care while advancing the mission of Bon Secours to improve the health of the communities we serve.”

The program includes multiple entry points throughout the year, with application deadlines in September, November, February, April and June. Qualified applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree, meet minimum GPA requirements and complete prerequisite coursework in anatomy and physiology, microbiology, developmental psychology and mathematics. Applicants from several Virginia colleges and universities may also qualify for guaranteed admission based on academic performance.

Prospective students are encouraged to attend an information session, available through the BSMCON website, www.bsmcon.edu/events or visit the DE-MSN interest page for more information.
