BSMCON Recognizes Constitution Day

Today, Sept. 17, Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing joins schools across the country in recognizing Constitution Day, a federally designated observance that highlights the signing of the U.S. Constitution and its lasting impact on American democracy.

Congress established Constitution Day in 2004 to require all schools that receive federal funding to provide educational programming about the U.S. Constitution. The date was chosen to mark Sept. 17, 1787, when 39 delegates signed the final version of the Constitution at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia, which created the framework of the nation’s government and protected the fundamental rights and freedoms of its citizens.

Each year, BSMCON participates by sharing educational information about the Constitution and offering students access to a 24-hour online resource site. The site features tools and materials recommended by the U.S. Department of Education to support learning and civic engagement.

Students, faculty, and staff can learn more and explore resources at bsmcon.edu/constitution-day-and-citizenship-day.
