Student Spotlight: Edward "Eddie" T.Meet Edward “Eddie” Tiet, a man whose story of resilience and perseverance is both unique and inspiring. Born in Vietnam, Edward’s family immigrated as political refugees to the United States in 1979 during the tumultuous era of the Vietnam War. When they arrived in America, they had nothing but the clothes on their backs and the hope of a better life. |

Alumni Spotlight: Monique R.“I like to say I didn’t choose nursing, it chose me” said Monique Rolle, BSN, RN when asked why she decided on nursing as a career path. Rolle was a late bloomer, entering the field of nursing after serving in the United States Army. She transitioned from being a military hero to a health care hero knowing that nursing would fill a void. After completing Medical Institute as a practical nurse, she passed the LPN NCLEX. |

Student Spotlight: Meisha H.Meisha Harris, a non-traditional student and single mother with two academic degrees, chose to pursue nursing after discovering her passion for it in high school. She obtained certification as a nursing assistant in 2007 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Virginia Commonwealth University, as well as a master's degree in athletic training. However, her heart was drawn to nursing, so she applied to the competitive BSN program at the College of Nursing, stating that growth only comes from working outside of one's comfort zone. |

Global Outreach 2023 Benefit AuctionOn Friday, January 27, 2023, the College of Nursing held its annual Global Outreach Silent Auction. Due to the pandemic, this was the first time the auction was held since 2020. All proceeds from the auction help students with the costs associated with international, national or local mission-driven service. With hundreds of items up for auction, festive food and beverages, door prizes and more, the Global Outreach event was a success! Items donated for the auction included handmade objects, donated goods and services, and unique pieces for bid. |

Student Spotlight: Imoni AndersonBSN student Imoni Anderson knew as early as five years old that she wanted to work in the medical field. She discovered the College of Nursing after hearing about the school’s outstanding reputation. “Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing lived up to every expectation,” Anderson said. She mentioned that the admission process was very competitive, but it was well worth it as she reflects upon her journey. |

Student Spotlight: Jacob WeidemanPrior to enrolling at the College of Nursing, Jacob Weideman was working 16-hour shifts in a paper mill. “I was doing back-breaking work and feeling drained. The only thing I had to show for my efforts at the end of the day was a paycheck,” he said. As a father and husband, Weideman wanted a more meaningful career; he always enjoyed caring for others, which led him to apply and successfully enroll in the BSN program at BSMCON. |

BSMCON Earns First Quality Matters CertificationWe are thrilled to announce that Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing (BSMCON) has just earned its first Quality Matters (QM) Certification in Online Teaching Support. This certification was awarded to both our pre-licensure (BSN) and post-licensure (RN-BSN) programs. |

Student Spotlight: Catherine McPhersonCatherine McPherson, a BSN student at Bon Secours Memorial College of Nursing (BSMCON) and a former Division I soccer player, fell in love with nursing after taking pre-requisite classes during her undergraduate career. She made the decision to place this dream on the back burner due to the demands that come with being a student-athlete. McPherson graduated with a degree in psychology and human biology and then later received her master’s degree in counseling. She worked as a counselor for many years while raising her three daughters. |
