COVID-19: What do I do if...

I have symptoms of COVID-19?

  • Do not come to campus/lab/clinical.
  • Notify your faculty member(s) and the COVID nurse that you will be missing lab/clinical/class.
  • Monitor your symptoms/fever daily and see your health care provider for screening/testing/care within the first 3 days of on-going symptoms.
  • Isolate yourself from others.
  • If a health care provider determines COVID-19 testing is not needed or test results are negative, students must provide that documentation* before returning to campus/lab/clinical.
  • COVID Nurse can be reached at Marcella_Williams@bshsi.org. She will use email to follow up with students under quarantine for any reason and to collect documentation* related to medical clearance.

I have a known exposure to COVID-19?

  • Do not come to campus/lab/clinical.
  • Start a 14-day quarantine from the date of your exposure.
  • Notify the COVID nurse and faculty members that you will not be attending lab/clinical/class until after the last day of your quarantine.
  • Work with Faculty and student Services to identify a plan for your academic success.
  • COVID Nurse can be reached at Marcella_Williams@bshsi.org. She will use email to follow up with students under quarantine for any reason and to collect documentation* related to medical clearance.

Someone I was/am in close contact with has symptoms or is being tested for COVID-19?

  • Do not come to campus/lab/clinical.
  • Notify your faculty member(s) and the COVID nurse that you will be missing lab/clinical/class.
  • Avoid further exposure/contact with the individual if possible.
  • Quarantine for 14 days from your last date of contact or until the individual’s COVID-19 is ruled out/test results are negative.
  • See the CDC website related illness in the home https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/living-in-close-quarters.html

Someone I was/am in close contact with was notified they have been exposed or is on quarantine/being tested?

  • Limit all further exposure to that individual
  • This is not considered an exposure at this time.
  • If that individual becomes symptomatic or has positive test results and you were in close contact with them less than 48 hours prior to their symptoms/positive test, then it is considered an exposure and you will need to notify the COVID nurse.
  • COVID Nurse can be reached at Marcella_Williams@bshsi.org. She will use email to follow up with students under quarantine for any reason and to collect documentation* related to medical clearance.
