BSN and Senior 1 student, Flaklinda Mehmeti, a refugee from the Kosovo war in 1999, has a compelling story. Born amidst the conflict as Serbia sought to take control of Kosovo, she and her family sought sanctuary in the United States when she was just five months old. Raised in an Albanian-speaking household, she witnessed her parents face the challenge of adapting to a new culture and language.

Currently, Flaklinda is a dedicated full-time nursing student at BSMCON and works as a patient care technician and as a pharmacy technician at St. Francis Medical Center. Balancing her academic and professional responsibilities is demanding; yet, she embraces this challenge with the support of her family.
