Fazel began his career in higher education began in graduate school. He was a teaching assistant (TA) for an introductory biology lab course and then a TA for a cell biology lecture. It was through that experience that he discovered a passion for teaching and mentoring others. Fazel started his advising career at the University of Illinois in the Biology department, as well in Chemical Sciences. As a adjunct faculty member, he taught an online biology course at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. A move to Richmond, Va. in 2016 led to a position as a pre-professional health advisor at Virginia Commonwealth University. He joined the College of Nursing in July 2018.
